| Workshops meet 10-5 on Saturday and 10-5 on Sunday, unless otherwise noted. Workshops meet in various historic buildings on the Spruce Forest Campus. Students may bring lunch or purchase lunch at Penn Alps Restaurant across the street. There are many motels and bed and breakfasts in the area, some in walking distance. Please check the Spruce Forest website for links to lodging options. |

Basket Weaving

This one day workshop will feature basic techniques for making a coiled pine needle basket around a black Walnut shell base. All materials will be provided.

Quilling

Learn the beginning techniques of tight roll, loose roll, and marquis of the 10th Century art form of rolling and gluing paper. Students will produce a flower picture.

Students will make two rings, one with a bezel set
stone, and one necklace. PMC techniques and
basic silver soldering and stone setting will be

Discuss the basic structure of flowering plants inbotanical terms, and then create pencil studies of a plant that is native to this Appalachian area. Gardeners, naturalists and all adults are welcome.

Make beads of molten glass at the torch.
Basic skills of heating glass, applying it to a mandrel and shaping it with tools. You will learn to make a round bead and how to alter its shape and add decorative color with dots, frits, trails.
