The Eli Miller House was reconstructed here at Spruce Forest with components of a once-beautiful plank house. The home was marked and disassembled for moving to the Village. Before the house was reconstructed, some of the valuable chestnut planks were stolen. The Eli Miller House is now but a shadow of its former self.
As a grand three story building with wormy chestnut siding, a porch, and fine carved details, the Eli Miller house originally stood on the Mason-Dixon Line near Springs, PA. Builder Eli S. Miller was the grandson of Joel B. Miller, the pioneer craftsman who built the Miller House, now a Peace Center and Miller Family Museum in the Artisan Village . Eli Miller was also the grandfather of Penn Alps charter board member Ralph Miller and great uncle of Village founder Alta Schrock.
Rebuilt at Spruce Forest at Penn Alps in 1976, Eli Miller House is once again a blacksmith shop hosted by metal sculptor, Mike Edelman.
